Who can apply

We’re looking for brilliant minds trained in engineering, computer science or physics.

Entry requirements / Eligibility criteria

Below are the minimum requirements to be eligible for the PSRS programme.

Administrative process
  • Compliance with the application process calendar and deadlines;
  • Authenticity, completeness, certification (scan of original documents and certified translation if needed) of application files.
  • Applicants who have already benefited from an EMJMD scholarship are ineligible.
  • The application files must be fully written in English.
Academic prerequisites
  • Applicants must hold a bachelor of science (or any nationally recognized first cycle degree equivalent to 180 ECTS), preferably in the fields of engineering, computer science or physics. While this condition must necessarily be fulfilled at the time of the Master programme beginning, the consortium also accepts applications from students in the last year of their higher education degree.
  • Applicants must possess a solid academic background in the general fields of physics, engineering or computer science.
Language requirements
  • The tuition language is English. Students are notably expected to produce a Master Thesis in English, as well as pass oral exams and sustain to open examination a public defense of their Master Thesis in English. A strong command of written and oral English is therefore requested. Applicants will have to demonstrate during application an English language proficiency equivalent to level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). (Link to correspondences between CEFR levels and common language proficiency scales around the world that will be used).
  • Level of English will be assessed on the basis of test scores provided by the applicant, the cover letter and the interview.
Adequate financial resources
  • Applicants should be fully aware of the financial costs of the PSRS EMJM programme.
  • Tuition fees and mobility costs are to be supported by scholarship (if any) and personal funds.
  • Applicants must therefore have adequate financial resources to meet all expenses related to their participation in the programme (living expenses, travel, insurance, visa, etc.).
  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to refer to budget simulation to assess their financial ability.
  • Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree scholarship holders are exempted of this requirement.

For information

  • No discrimination on the basis of nationality, gender, age, religion, health conditions;
  • Dedicated to achieving equity for women in science, the consortium supports women who face difficult circumstances or barriers to their full participation. More details on services offered to women with young children or having to care for children are available on Academic Services.

Admission criteria

  • Applicants should be aware that joining PSRS is an extremely competitive process, which takes time.
  • Only the best 25 applicants will be selected. The ranking outcome is based on academic merit, motivation, and other criteria. The consortium will allocate available EMJMD scholarships and other scholarships to the best applicants.
  • Method and criteria used to assess application are detailed in the selection process.

Contributions for students with special needs

The European Union co-funded EMJM programme aims to provide inclusive and fair education. Therefore, students with disabilities may receive a contribution to individual needs in order to cover specific services or equipment required for their participation in the programme due to long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments.

Students with disabilities may receive a contribution to individual needs, in addition to the standard scholarship package. This contribution can be awarded for both scholarship holders and non-scholarship holders (self-paying students).

Eligibility conditions:

  • enrolled student,
  • disability long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments,
  • nature of disability won’t allow participation in the EMJM without special needs items or services,
  • certified by a competent national authority.

Applicants add a supplementary statement to their online application explaining their needs and the type of support requested. Supporting documents (medical certificates, assessment by a specialist, etc.) confirming the condition/needs must be provided.

Please note, the allocation of these funds is at the discretion of the consortium and depends on available resources. The contribution may not cover all required costs but may cover a substantial part of the required costs. Your application will be treated confidentially.
