Tuition fees and scholarships 2024-2026

Tuition fees and scholarships 2024-2026

“Attract, select, and fund excellence.”

The PSRS EMJMD programme has been supported by funding from the European Union spanning from 2019 to 2025. Currently, the consortium is in the process of seeking the renewal of this European funding. Should this renewal be successful, the iPSRS programme will attain the status of an EMJM (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master) and will have the capacity to bestow EMJM scholarships upon students in the 2024-2026 cohort.

In anticipation of the results for the next EMJM programme, set to be announced in
July 2024, the iPSRS programme has earmarked exceptional resources for consortium scholarships in 2024 and 2025. These resources are intended to ensure that every outstanding student has access to a substantial stipend, covering both living, travel and study expenses while in Europe, eliminating the need for additional personal financial support.

The PSRS EMJMD program retains its Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree label for the next 3 cohorts, with the intention of being renewed as an EMJM.

The top students, selected from the main list, in the 2024-2026 cohort will receive a Consortium Scholarship until the results of the next EMJM program are announced. Some of them will transition to an EMJM scholarship in case of program success.

The other students accepted from the main list in the 2024-2026 cohort, will receive a substantial fee waiver but no Consortium Scholarship ; In case of program success, some of them may be granted a scholarship.

The scholarship policy is now simplified and is no longer tied to the student's place of origin.

The table below displays the tuition fees, fee waivers, and scholarships available to students accepted into the iPSRS master's program. Scholarships are not cumulative and are awarded based on the ranking of iPSRS applications.

All students that apply before the deadline, will be automatically considered for

all scholarships mentioned in the table below.

More information about scholarships

None of the scholarships listed above will be granted to students who apply after the deadline

The above scholarships are not cumulative

The best ranked applicants are granted with the best scholarships

Scholarships are merit-based

The same selection criteria, methods and decision-making are used for the selection to the programme and for awarding the scholarships. .

Learning performance during first year of the programme is used to grant scholarships during the second year of the programme.

Early applications (before November each year for integrating the next edition in September) can also be considered for an Eiffel scholarship. This scholarship cannot be cumulative with another scholarship

The Eiffel scholarship requires to fill a specific application file and for this to contact us at master.PSRS@univ-st-etienne.fr between October and mid-November. This scholarship:

  • covers all the duration of the programme (24 months)
  • 1,181 € per month (total of 28,344 €) + travel expenses
  • depends of your country of origin

Students who do not receive an Eiffel scholarship can, for the second year of the master programme, apply to and cumulate the following scholarships:

BRMI scholarships

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region offers a scholarship for mobility outside of France of students registered in a Higher Education Institution in the region.

  • The baseline scholarship is equivalent to 95€/week, up to 26 weeks per academic year.
  • Selection of eligible candidates and application is made through University Jean Monnet.

Master Thesis allowances

Work placement during semester 4 is generally paid. It is for instance legally compulsory to pay trainees at least 600 € per month in France. Most of our industrial partners offer internships that provide substantial allowance packages above this minimum.

The Manutech SLEIGHT Graduate School in Saint-Etienne offers outgoing mobility grants to promote the mobility of M1 and M2 master students during their internship. These grants cannot be combined with EMJMD scholarships and are reserved to students enrolled at UJM in semester 3.

Will you be considered as a student from a partner or a programme country?

EU Members and third countries associated to the programme

  • Member States of the European Union (EU)

Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden

  • Non EU Programme Countries

Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Serbia

Third contries not associated to the programme : all the other countries

Your nationality is not the only criteria to determine if you are from a partner or a programme country

Two additional rules apply to determine if you will be considered as from a Partner or a Programme country:

The “single nationality rule”: students with a double nationality must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application. When applying to PSRS, you should choose one and only one nationality if you hold dual citizenship.

The “12 months rule”: applicants from a Partner country, but who have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in a Programme country will be considered as coming from a Programme country. The five-year reference period for this 12-month rule is calculated from the submission deadline (i.e. 6th of February 2022).

The "3 months, partner-country rule". If a student from a partner country with an EMJM scholarship spends more than 3 consecutive  months in a partner country (their country or another partner country), their scholarship payments will be cancelled until they return to a programme country.

Please note that the legal basis and documentation that prevail for determining if you are from a Programme or Partner country is the English version and latest version of the
Erasmus programme guide.
